A person who laced candy with sedative and distributed them to minors at a youth camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual offences against two young males both between nine and ten.
The accused was taken into custody after eight minors and an older person fell ill at the facility in the summer month.
The elderly man, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he was present at the judicial center on Friday.
Nevertheless, he denied one of the sexual offences he was facing, which was concerning a young boy.
Ruben was remanded in custody prior to a further hearing on 28 November.
'Treat game'
The legal representative, prosecuting, detailed the defendant's actions to the court.
She said his targets were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a summer camp which he operated.
The defendant conducted a "treat game" with the minors, the prosecutor said, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to eat sweets "as fast as possible".
She informed the proceedings Ruben had engaged in this activity with the boys "for many years", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the following morning.
She said Ruben had been able to explain this for many years as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had concerns in recently.
The legal representative stated further: "In the summer" his family member had concerns about what was going on, with valid cause.
"They resolved" to have a look in the individual's items."
The prosecutor explained materials including infant oil, ointment and medical needles were located, and his stepson alerted the police about his suspicions.
She stated Ruben went on to engage in the "treat game" with six boys that time - July 26th - and they were all ill the next day.
"Authorities" had not arrived by that stage," she stated further.
The police watchdog, the police conduct office, had stated that it was reviewing law enforcement's management of the situation.
Mrs Prior stated the children were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson notified the law enforcement once more.
She explained the defendant then conducted the "sweet game" in a area of five minors.
