Patriots Equal Longest Winning Streak From Brady Years with Triumph Against Jets
First-year player TreVeyon Henderson has tallied five touchdowns during the current campaign
The New England Patriots matched their top unbeaten stretch from the Tom Brady period as they overcame division opponents the Jets 27-14 in the NFL
First-year standout Henderson led the way with three TDs as the New England squad claimed an eight-game winning streak for the first time since legendary quarterback Brady's last year with the team in the 2019 season
Signal-caller Drake Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a score, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
The triumph bolsters the Patriots advantage at the top of the AFC East as they moved to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York at the foot after slipping to a 2-8 mark
The Jets had scored first at their home field with QB Fields scoring a five-yard touchdown to conclude the Jets' opening drive
But the Patriots answered in the second period as the rookie ran in two seven-yard TDs before the running back grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the back of the end zone in the middle of the third period to push the score to 21-7
"That was a big time for him stepping up, and it's been fantastic for him to keep earning playing time," the quarterback commented on Henderson. "He wants to be great."
Justin Fields found Metchie late in the third period to reduce the lead for the visitors but Borregales converted a two kicks in the final period as the home side wrapped up the victory
